about

After having explored a more experimental style in Hungary, Phÿcus decided to move away from the usual industrial style and towards a more experimental style. So, during 1998 Phÿcus alternated between experimental gigs, such as the Wasteland events, and club gigs, such as this one at Saw Gallery in Ottawa. The club gigs were part of a goodbye tour of our older material, and contained a mix of favorite tracks re-booted and material from “X”, which had been recorded but not yet released.

This gig also features the first onstage performance from Violinni, an Ottawa guy who said that his violin-playing prowess was a gift from Satan. Welcome to Phÿcus, Violinni, you are among friends here!

Concert filmed by Alex Kovacs. Sound has been extracted from the video.

Phÿcus transformed from the traditional band format into a network that included over 50 contributors in a dozen locales, with Montreal as its centre of operations. Phÿcus' success was minimal, but their output was prodigious. Now in 2020, Phÿcus is back with a new release, "CrowleyWood". ... more
