about

Recorded 1988 and 1989, released January 31, 1990 to coincide with Phycus' first Montreal performance. Re-issued in 1991 as "LOAF" C90, with "Leonomorphic" on one side and "rench /reck" on the other. The "LOAF" re-issue added "Within A Triangle" as a bonus cut on the "Leonomorphic" side.

"Leonomorphic" was the second Phycus cassette released to the public, and was printed in an edition of about 30 copies. It was preceeded by the radio demo "Kinder! Gentler! Now!" which had "Tottering Structures" as the A side and "Psychiatric Exile" and "Faktory America" on the B side. The B side tracks were included on the third official Phycus cassette "rench/reck", which was recorded during the same period, but released about a year later.
The title comes from a book about deities whose heads were Leonomorphic, in the shape of a lion.

Two things differentiate the "Leonomorphic" sessions from the "TREE" session. The first is the addition of a Roland S-550 sampler to the Phycus arsenal. The second is a shift in lyrical style from a narrative style to a more cut-up, slogan-based style.

Tracks from the original cassette :
01 Mistress Lisa's Dominant Tanning Salon (Live - OktoberPhycus)
02 After The Immolation
03 The Aquarium Of Night

about

Phÿcus Montreal, Québec

Phÿcus was a Canadian industrial / experimental band that existed from 1988 to 2000. Phÿcus transformed from the traditional band format into a network that included over 50 contributors in a dozen locales, with Montreal as its centre of operations. Phÿcus' success was minimal, but their output was prodigious. Now in 2020, Phÿcus is back with a new release, "CrowleyWood". ... more
