about

"Kataklysmix" is a collaboration between Brian Damage and William “Bill Satan” Davison, recorded in Brian’s studio on Delormier, Montreal, Feb. 22 1993. Final mix by Bill Satan at Surgical Transmissions, Toronto, May 12, 1993.

William Davison was a friend of Scott Righteous from when they both lived in Halifax. Strangely, Brian and William never met in Halifax and were finally introduced at an E. Neubauten concert in Toronto in 1991.

William Davison has a list of artistic accomplishments a mile long, often in collaboration with his partner, Sherri Higgins (who appears on tape in “Illusion of Blood”). His work is influenced by surrealism and dada, and he always brought a surreal and experimental vibe to all the Phÿcus gigs he played. His most notable music projects have been Six Heads, Urban Refuse Group, M Stactor and Songs of the New Erotics.

Line-up:
Brian Damage – Moog MG-1, Casio CZ-1000, tapes
William “Bill Satan” Davison – Guitar
Maxime Charnier – Voice on “Une Petite Chanson”

This is an early iteration of the Networked Toronto lineup, which, plus Bill Abominog, played most Phÿcus gigs in Toronto from 1993 to 1997.

Scott Righteous – Keyboard (probably a Casio SK-1), tapes, mixing, effects

Phÿcus Montreal, Québec

Phÿcus was a Canadian industrial / experimental band that existed from 1988 to 2000. Phÿcus transformed from the traditional band format into a network that included over 50 contributors in a dozen locales, with Montreal as its centre of operations. Phÿcus' success was minimal, but their output was prodigious. Now in 2020, Phÿcus is back with a new release, "CrowleyWood". ... more
