Industrial Media Manipulation
Recorded January 12 1991, Foufounes Electriques, Montreal

Launch of the cassette ‘’rench/reck’’. This show is notable as it includes SPK-553 in a rare Montreal performance, and was the first Phycus show to include members of the Terra Vox label in the lineup, two of whom - Thierry Gauthier and Foe Noumenon - stayed in the lineup for as couple years. This show also marks the first appearance of the sampler onstage.

01 Night Forest (IMM)
Originally recorded by Art Damage and Bill Abominog. This track was added to a few Phycus sets around this time.

02 Intermetallic Composite (IMM)
Probably the only live recording of this track. SPK-553 probably could have continued for another hour or so.

03 Cold Tounges (IMM)
Originally recorded by Foe on his cassette released on Terra Vox at around this time.

04 Power (IMM)
Here, SPK-553 takes the same liberties with « Power » as he would with any other cover.

05 Sensitive Artist (IMM)
Last live performance of this classic jam.

06 Faktory Amerika (IMM)

07 Tottering Structures (IMM)

08 Jericho (IMM)
Around this time, Brian helped Monty Cantsin to record « Jericho » in studio. This version has Brian on vocals.

about

Phÿcus Montreal, Québec

Phÿcus was a Canadian industrial / experimental band that existed from 1988 to 2000. Phÿcus transformed from the traditional band format into a network that included over 50 contributors in a dozen locales, with Montreal as its centre of operations. Phÿcus' success was minimal, but their output was prodigious. Now in 2020, Phÿcus is back with a new release, "CrowleyWood". ... more
