about

OV was a one-shot solo project of Brian Damage, an opportunity to make public a few songs that were considered too “pop” to be included in the Phÿcus canon. It collected material recorded in the period 1989 to 1991 and was released as a radio demo at CKUT, Montreal.

Side One:
01 14 Persuasion
Recorded Montreal, 1991. Featuring Thierry Gauthier on guitar.

02 God Damn The Sun
Recorded Halifax, 1989.

03 Last Rites
Originally titled “Requiem”, recorded Halifax, 1989.

04 Stained Glass
Recorded Montreal, 1991. The song is based on the movie “The Fly” and how a mental transformation can become a physical transformation.

Side Two:
05 Empty Temples – Long Version
A longer mix than the one that appeared on “BURN”. Recorded Halifax, 1989.

Bonus Track:
06 Steve Reich’s Not Dead
Based on Reich’s phasing experiments, using tape hiss and a skipping record. Recorded Montreal, 1991. Originally intended to be released on an extended version of “BURN”.

Phÿcus' success was minimal, but their output was prodigious. Now in 2020, Phÿcus is back with a new release, "CrowleyWood". ... more
