about

No one asked, but here it is anyway, “Sonderkommando Now!” in demo form. The tracks selected for this release are home studio versions that closest resemble the versions found on the CD. Unlike the demos for “brainmower”, most of these demos have not been previously released.

Of particular interest are the three demos for “Hopeless”, that trace its evolution from an improvisation back in the Halifax era. Monty Cantsin heard this version and suggested some chord changes, which became his track “Ideal Gift”. The instrumental version of “Ideal Gift” became “Hopeless”, as it is known today.

For two of these tracks, there was no demo version, so a substitution had to be made:
For “Where There’s Smoke There's Phÿcus”, “Get On The Drugs” was substituted.
For “Metal Mantra”, “Analog Mantra” (from Sado-Kommander Nine) was substituted.
As a bonus, “NightFlight to Phÿcus“, which was originally considered for the CD, is included.

Phÿcus was a Canadian industrial / experimental band that existed from 1988 to 2000. Phÿcus transformed from the traditional band format into a network that included over 50 contributors in a dozen locales, with Montreal as its centre of operations. Phÿcus' success was minimal, but their output was prodigious. Now in 2020, Phÿcus is back with a new release, "CrowleyWood". ... more
